Rfam COVID-19 Resources
- Goal
- Add new and updated Coronavirus RNA families to Rfam in response to the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, covering the full diversity of 5'- and 3'-UTRs across Coronavirus genera.
- Status
- Complete — 10 new UTR families and 4 updated families released in Rfam 14.2. Read the blog post or download the data.
- Collaborators
- Kevin Lamkiewicz & Manja Marz (Friedrich Schiller University Jena); Eric Nawrocki (NCBI)
Coronavirus UTR Families
Untranslated regions (UTRs) are conserved functional elements responsible for replication and packaging. The following new families represent the 5'- and 3'-UTRs across the four main Coronavirus genera, plus a specialised set for the subgenus Sarbecovirus (including SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2).
- Alphacoronavirus 5'-UTR RF03116
- Alphacoronavirus 3'-UTR RF03121
- Betacoronavirus 5'-UTR RF03117
- Betacoronavirus 3'-UTR RF03122
- Sarbecovirus 5'-UTR RF03120
- Sarbecovirus 3'-UTR RF03125
- Gammacoronavirus 5'-UTR RF03118
- Gammacoronavirus 3'-UTR RF03123
- Deltacoronavirus 5'-UTR RF03119
- Deltacoronavirus 3'-UTR RF03124
